

He is currently the Secretary General of the Unyon ng mga Manunulat sa Pilipinas (UMPIL) and the OIC-President of the Filipinas Institute of Translation (FIT). A multi-awarded poet, essayist, and literary translator, he received the Southeast Asian Writers (S.E.A.WRITE) Award from the Royalty of Thailand in 2007 and the Ani ng Dangal Award from the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) in 2009. Horacio de la Costa Endowed Professorial Chair for History and Humanities. He is an Associate Professor in Filipino Literature, Creative Writing, and Literary Translation at the Department of Filipino, School of Humanities, Ateneo de Manila University where he holds the Rev. in Filipino from the University of the Philippines Diliman. in Literature from the Ateneo de Manila University, and Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Santo Tomas, M.A.

He is definitely well-known for marketing the conventional poetic type of the PhiIippines 'balagtasan'. The author's functions have been recently released in nationwide and international literary magazines: Kritika Kultura, Filipino Studies, Unitas, Tómas, 1Bulawan Diary of Disciplines and Tradition, Daluyan, Loyola Institutions Evaluation, and the Malay Indonesian Studies. He produces poetry, fiction, critical essays and can be engaged in fictional interpretation.
